In the world of automatic capping machinery, there are two main systems that determine how the bottles move through the production line as they are being sealed: inline and rotary. Difference between an inline and rotary capper machine

There are many differences between these two types of machinery, but they all have one root cause, and that is the way in which the containers are moved through the line. The inline system is the simplest of the two, and if you track a bottle as it moves through this type of capping machine, it will appear to move in a straight line, from left to right for example. As bottles move down the line, the capping head stops them to seal the cap on, and then they continue in the same direction they were moving in before.

A rotary capper machine is slightly different. Instead of the bottles moving in a straight line, during the capping process, they are put on a sort of carousel that turns along with a rotating set of capping heads. Uncapped bottles enter the carousel, receive their cap and have it sealed as they move around the carousel, and exit the carousel fully capped and sealed.

Who can benefit from a rotary capper machine?

If you were paying close attention in the last section, you noticed that we mentioned that a rotary system uses a set of capping heads, while the inline system uses just one capping head. This is the factor that determines which type of capping equipment is appropriate for your business. The inline machine has a limited speed – even working at maximum efficiency, one capping head can only go so fast. However, because a rotary capper machine can accommodate multiple heads, it is able to cap multiple bottles at the same time as they move through the carousel. This allows them to produce outputs as much as 20x higher than inline machines.
